Read about the importance of using Pronouns to create a welcoming environment for the LGBTQ+ Community.

What are pronouns? Pronouns commonly used are she, he, and they. We use them in everyday speech but using one's proper pronouns is respectful and can create an inclusive environment.
Using one's pronouns is important because it creates an inclusive environment that allows the person to identify themselves. Instead of assuming one's gender, allow them to tell you their pronouns or to correct you in which pronouns they prefer. Using inclusive language welcomes a person and gives them the opportunity to introduce which pronouns they prefer. Using pronouns promotes diversity and gender inclusion.
Using one's pronouns allows those who are transgender or gender non-conforming to be respected and included. Language is used every day in all spaces, it is important to be mindful of how you address a person. If a person corrects you in which pronouns they prefer, be respectful and change your language. Pronouns are one way to use inclusive language and include others.
